reduced lights

Explanation:
Mijn (Amerikaanse) man, an ex-military pilot, says "reduced lights", which is supported by the following document: http://www.sim.inf.ethz.ch/papers/rickert-nagel-dfw/rickert-... (do a search on "reduced lights" and you will find a table)

The following hit has to do with street lights and not lighting on the vehicle itself.
CSD Case Study No. 5 - Mount Rainier, MD
... Furthermore, reduced lights also reduce the energy needs for operating the
intersection, thereby reducing long term costs for electricity. ...

dimmed lighting (not dipped lighting)

Explanation:
Vehicles normally have two types of driving lights:
Side (small, front & rear)
Head (large at the front an enabling travel at speed)
Dimmed lighting of the 'head' lamps increases chances of being seem (especially in twilight). The dimming (reduced power, not dipped) is facilitated by way of a rheostat in the headlight circuit.

-> To be honest I just can't think of anything else; perhaps my dimmed lighting is a bit dated, but it was certainly the term used for this sort of set-up some years ago. Currently I'd go for 'writeaway's' well-researched daytime running lights. Good luck.
