I believe that this adjective is derived from the name of the patrician family Zant. (See "Die Zant: Geschichte und architektonisches Erbe einer Patrizierfamilie" by Artur Dirmeier at www.spital.de/archiv/webedition/zant.pdf) The only other occurrence of the word I could find was a reference to Zakynthos (or "Zante"), the southernmost of the Ionic islands. (See: www.travelhomepage.de/zante/zante.htm)
