Mi sembra una contraddizione in francese perché anche per noi l'applique è una lampada da fissare al muro.
Potrebbe trattarsi di una lampada nata come applique ma che può essere montata anche come plafoniera sospesa o usata comepiantana/lampada da tavolo, come il modello Swopit in questo catalogo: http://www.themehotel.fr/acatalog/THEMEHOTEL_Maison_30.html
