From a text about implantology. I can't find anything for "Knochenaufbaumineral". As is so often the case, it's the "Aufbau" part of the word that's troubling me. I have tended to translate Knochenaufbau as "bone reconstruction" in the past, but am having doubts about it. Am actually wondering if it could be "bone regeneration" or even "bone modelling". Does anyone know for sure what the actual meaning of "Knochenaufbau" IS in English? TIA for your help.

Thank you all for your efforts. My issues with the word "Aufbau" remain - it's such a wretched word to nail down. But I think that perhaps "bone building mineral" will work quite well here. Renate suggested this as well, but Hermann did harder work with the references, which prove "mineral" rather than "material" could be meant here, so the points to him narrowly over Renate. The other suggestions were also plausible, and good cases generally made for them, which I appreciated. This was not an easy decision to make, but anyway, hopefully this will work OK. Many thanks again - really appreciate your help.

Thank you all for your efforts. My issues with the word "Aufbau" remain - it's such a wretched word to nail down. But I think that perhaps "bone building mineral" will work quite well here. Renate suggested this as well, but Hermann did harder work with the references, which prove "mineral" rather than "material" could be meant here, so the points to him narrowly over Renate. True, often mineral compounds are used for this purpose, as calcium phosphate, etc. (see page 3 in: http://www.ceramtec.de/cgi-bin/byteserver.pl/pdf/3rdSymp-2-1...

To translate all components of "Knochenaufbaumineral" you would have to write: "minerals (or mineral compounds) for bone augmentation".
