再被害届 Supplemental damage/loss report Explanation: In daily American life, when you report something to a PD (police department), it is usually (actually, almost without exception) about some loss or damage (property or injury by breakin or assault). So police report would mean 被害届 (or where else do you report it to?). But then, you already reported to the PD, then second time on it is clear to say supplemental damage/loss report. Now I said "supplemental report", because unless you suffer another, entire different loss from another incident, you are reporting about same loss, but you wish to provide more detail, or something you forgot to include into the first report. Then the 再 part is "supplemental" information. If you suffer two break-ins or batteries, for instance, and making another police report for that, then there is no need for 再, because it is brand-new report. Don't use "claim" because it sounds like you had car accident and reporting to the insurance company for that. "Offence report" does not make much sense. Besides it sounds like you are the offender. As for "damage report" it is OK, but damage/loss report would be better. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day 4 hrs 8 mins (2004-11-03 14:17:06 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your evaluation and comments. I noticed you have added quite a few notes after your posting. Here¥'s my thought in responce to that. So your client is filing additional report to bring the charge against the perpetrator, but this time as a criminal offense. When it is already reported, but not accepted due to poor English, you must SUPPLEMENT it with additional information (in good English). Obviously, and whether it¥'s new case or not (it appears is a same case with both civil and criminal aspects), I still believe supplemental report is all right, so authority will be made aware it is already reported one way or another. I am not a law enforcement expert but saying these based on my experiences in interpreting on many occassions in similar case. |
