Der Begriff Global Governance wird in Politik und Politikwissenschaft zunehmend gebraucht; eine einvernehmliche Definition ist jedoch noch nicht gefunden. Global Governance ist nicht gleichzusetzen mit einer Art „Weltregierung“. Vielmehr lässt sich Global Governance eher mit „globaler Strukturpolitik“ oder „Weltordnungspolitik“ umschreiben.
