German term or phrase: Kursfeuerwerk
I've come across this term and need to render it into an English stock market environment; e.g. share price jump, any other ideas? Thanks very much!

agree  Melanie Nassar: Sure, there are lots of alternatives, but Kursfeuerwerk is pretty dramatic (compared to Kursanstieg, for example), and "skyrocketing" expresses that with the same feeling.

(Sunday 9/21/2003 PM): As I am writing this Sunday evening, Sydney and Hong Kong markets are already trading and gold is up from Friday's New York close. The December COMEX futures contract traded as high as $391 on 2/5/03 so that is our next target, and our next resistance level. Breaking above that level should spark some fireworks because there are probably a large number of buy-stops set either by short sellers wishing to limit their losses, or by momentum traders that recognize an upside breakout means a higher likelihood of substantially higher prices. The "fireworks" comes from running these stops.

Altech, the telecommunications, multimedia and IT business in the Altron stable, has seen its share price run from around R22 to more than R25 over the past two weeks.
The price spike preceded the renewal of a long-standing cautionary announcement.

CEO Craig Venter said he was not concerned about the timing of the sharp rise in the share price. Venter said, understandably, he could not comment given the cautionary. He said the cautionary could relate to “any number of things”.
