  -> From that sentence , there is no way you can know it is about "pertandingan memasak". It can be about "aktiviti masak memasak " for some kind of celebration.
disagree  yam2u: agree with timmy. there's nothing to not know; a 'cook-off' [not 'cook-of'] is simply a cooking contest (pertandingan memasak). all other translations are inaccurate.
