capping rail Explanation: I am pretty sure what the term means (it is in fact the horizontal, mostly wooden, cover on top of the bulwark (vertical), on yachts often just a teak strip on top of a toe rail(vertical)).You can also say gunwale for the vertical part, it is the upper planking of the sides of a ship. When ships started to be built differently, of course it is difficult to find the 'correct' terms, they are sometimes mixed up. Example: GRP bulwark with a continuous high gloss varnish teak capping rail. BUT, I would check if that is indeed where they mounted the fillers, because you do not see that very often. |
