From an article about basic materials science concepts and how they relate to dentistry.

To my complete, utter and total astonishment, Normprüfung does not seem to be recognised by any dictionary. Maybe Ernst or something has it, but it's not in Leo, Laixicon, Eurodicautom, Dicdata or Collins. What is up with that?

Anyway, let's at least get it in the ProZ glossary. Presumably the "standardisiert" part can be dropped, as it's rather "doppelt gemoppelt" in English (standardised standard tests?). TIA for your help.

Explanation:
Although I can see where Norbert ("Hermann") is coming from, I'm inclined to believe that this usage is in fact "doppelt gemoppelt" here as there is not a single Web hit for "standardisierte Normprüfungen" (the same is true for the singular). IMHO it's got to be either "Normprüfung" or "standardisierte Prüfung" in German. So I think that "standardised tests" would fit the bill perfectly (especially with ISO, EN, DIN are mentioned thereafter).
