transistor gate Explanation: The patent you quote as ref. is in fact a translation from DE, which is more consistent in its terminology. FETs use a 'gate' as an analogy for the 'grid' of a vacuum tube / valve, but FR rather confusingly uses the same term for both, perhaps to avoid the alternative ambiguity with a 'logic gate' -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 days (2020-09-16 19:42:54 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Just to clarify: the terminology 'gate' (FR: 'grille') applies only to Field-Effect (and related types) of transistor, commonly referred to as FET. |
