It is a hybrid from German Kinder (children) and Greek archē (power, rule). The medial -g- is reminiscent of kindergarten or oligarchy. There are some examples of kindergarchy in Google Books. The earliest dates from 1946 and comes from Monatshefte, a magazine published by the Department of German at the University of Wisconsin. The Googlemeisters, alas, have concealed the context behind their "Snippet View." The OED does recognize paedarchy (1830) and paedocracy (1647), which mean the same thing as kindergarchy. - https://laudatortemporisacti.blogspot.com/2007/11/kindergarc... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 51 mins (2020-07-31 16:49:19 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- • PAEDARCHY rule or government by a child or children ...1830 • PAEDOCRACY government by children ...1647 • PAIDOCRACY government by children ...1647 - https://www.wordsandphrasesfromthepast.com/reverse-dictionar... |

pedocentrism, child-centered educational approach//rule by children, paedocracy Explanation: Child study, also called paidology, was the attempt to apply the methods of modern science to the investigation of children in order to discover the laws of normal child development. Described as a study about a child, it was isolated and developed at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, covering the whole range of issues related to the child’s physical and mental development, as well as the application of this knowledge to the issues of education and teaching. The creation of a child-study was related to the growing interest at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the child’s social situation and its rights as well as the development of experimental research in the field of developmental psychology [Pols, 2018; Siegel & White, 1982]. Adams framed education in terms of individuality and self-realisation; he believed the individual child was the centre of the whole educational enterprise.608 https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/7b19/efd12c4d560fb9cf740202... cccccc Differing from traditional kindergarten, a child-centered approach encourages children to take learning into their own hands, as opposed to being directed or prompted by a teacher. ... It will disappoint those who seek, in such a work, for rules of government reduced to formulas ; and those who would hope to find in it codes of school laws, as it especially eschews such things : it will also disappoint and dissatisfy your commonwealth-men, who would constitute a juvenile republic, or Hazlewood paidocracy in every school, inasmuch as it insists upon an “invariable, unconditional, unhesitating submission" to the will of the master. http://www.google.it.ao/books?id=83YCAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA477&dq=ed... cccccccccccccc paedocracy (countable and uncountable, plural paedocracies) Rule by children. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/paedocracy#:~:text=Noun,Rule ... cccccccc Centering on children. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pedocentrism |
