A saber: Orders for provision for a spouse out of the estate of the other spouse: Where one of the spouses in respect of whom a Decree of Divorce has been granted dies, the Court, on application to it by the other spouse not more than six months after representation is first granted, may by Order make such provision for the Applicant out of the estate of the deceased spouse as it considers appropriate. It is usual to obtain an Order pursuant to Section 18(10), when applying for a decree of divorce, which has the effect of blocking any application to Court for further provision on the death of a spouse. http://www.mccannfitzgerald.ie/pdf/jennifer obrien 291101.pd...
