10.2 Leakage test (manual)
...This is carried out using a leakage tester with a manometer.
• Provide a container with clean water or cleaning solution.
• The test connection and test connection tube must be dry.
• Push the connection cap onto the valve and turn it 90° counterclockwise. The
tester should now be firmly connected to the endoscope and cannot be pulled
off.
• Apply test pressure of max. 160 mm/hg to the leakage tester by inflating. This
will be visible in that the deflection rubber at the distal angular deflection piece
will have expanded slightly.

Prior to sterilization, attach the pressure compensation cap (EtO cap) to the
endoscope connection (see figure). If the EtO cap is not attached to the
endoscope during sterilization with ethylene oxide gas, the air in the endoscope
will expand and cause the coating of the angular deflection piece to crack and/
or damage the angular deflection mechanism.

Warning: If a functional defect occurs with the Flexible Intubation Video Endoscope during use on the patient, discontinue use immediately. Put the distal tip of the Flexible Intubation Video Endoscope into the neutral, nondeflected position and remove the Flexible Intubation Video Endoscope slowly and carefully from the patient..

CAUTION: The resistance that can be felt when deflecting the tip using the deflection lever increases as the angle of deflection increases. Actuate the deflection gently and carefully, without any sudden or jerky movements, as far as the limit stop.

The distal tip is deflected by actuating the deflection lever slowly. The distal end will deflect in accordance with the direction of actuation (forward or backward).

Note: The neutral position of the distal tip is straight, without any deflection whatsoever. An audible click is heard to indicate the distal tip is in neutral position.

Warning: The distal tip of the Flexible Intubation Video Endoscope must be straight, not angled, when the Flexible Intubation Video Endoscope is inserted into the patient.

Warning: The deflection lever must never be operated with force or abruptly to avoid perforation and injury to the patient or damaging the device irreparably.

Warning: Before removing the Flexible Intubation Video Endoscope from the patient, the distal tip must be put into the neutral position, as otherwise injuries to the patient or damage to the instrument may occur.

Warning: If the distal tip can no longer be properly controlled (sticking etc.) via the deflection lever, or if the deflection mechanism develops any other fault, the Flexible Intubation Video Endoscope must not be used.
