De tweede vergadering van het noodcomité dat door de directeur-generaal van de WHO in het kader van de Internationale Gezondheidsregeling (IHR) (2005) is bijeengeroepen in verband met de uitbraak van het nieuwe coronavirus 2019-nCoV in de Volksrepubliek China, met uitvoer naar andere landen, vond plaats op donderdag 30 januari 2020, van 13.30 tot 18.35 uur in Genève (CEST). Het comité heeft tot taak advies uit te brengen aan de directeur-generaal, die de uiteindelijke beslissing neemt over de vaststelling van een noodsituatie op het gebied van de volksgezondheid van internationaal belang (PHEIC). Het comité geeft ook advies over de volksgezondheid of stelt formele tijdelijke aanbevelingen voor, al naar gelang het geval.
