Θεωρώ πως η επιλογή της λέξης 'δημιουργία' στην προκειμένη περίπτωση δεν αποδίδει σωστά τον όρο placemaking, καθώς παραπέμπει σε γέννηση/κατασκευή, δηλαδή σε κάτι που δεν προϋπήρχε. |

Place-making is a term used most frequently in practical implementation spheres. As a concept, it tends to be used to refer to a specific approach to ‘revitalising, planning, designing and managing public spaces’ (Greenspace Scotland, 2009). Place-making put in simple terms is the process of place production, and can be further explained ‘as a collective process of space arrangement with the aim to advance the usage and living quality of a space and to appropriate the space in a socio-emotional way’ (Fürst et al. 2004 cited in Franz et al. 2008: 323). |

Από τα ανωτέρω αποσπάσματα, συνάγουμε ότι ο όρος «placemaking» μπορεί να αφορά είτε την δημιουργία δημοσίων χώρων διφόρων κοινωνικοοικονομικών λειτοργιών με έμφαση την κοινωνική και πολιτιστική ανάπτυξη και επικοινωνία είτε την διαμόρφωωση (ή και ανάπλαση) ήδη υαρχοντων χώρων προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση. Η διττή αυτή έννοια εκφράζεται σαφώς στο πρώτο απόσπασμα: « the different type of interventions that can ceate or improve (placemaking) public space... ». Στα υπόλοιπα δύο αποσπάσματα συναντούμε εναλλλάξ, πρώτα την νεα διαμόρφωση ή ανάπλαση των χώρων οι οποίοι αποκτούν νέο κοινωνικό ρολο και φύση : "...a place is given new identity." Aυτό σημαίνει ότι ο χ΄ρος προυπάρχει αλλά αναπλάθεται και αναμοφώνεται. Τέλος, στο τρίτο απόσπασμα, ο χώρος δημιουργείται ευθύς εξ αρχής : "or in the co-creation of a place." Συνεπώς είναι απαραίτητο ο ελληνικός όρος να περιέχει και τις δύο έννοιες : δημιουργία και διαμόρφωση (ή ανάπλαση). |
