De la începutul epidemiei de coronavirus, cel puțin două persoane au fost supranumite de presă „super-spreaders” („super-transmițători”): se apreciază că ele au infectat mai multe persoane decât media, care este de două sau trei la un bolnav, în absența unor măsuri de protecție (carantină, limitarea reuniunilor etc.).
