hi. how can we translate photo choquante into Egnlish ? thanks a lot everyone in advance for your help.

France
shocking/appaling picture
Explanation:
A photo is a picture. It is also an image, but so is a movie. A picture is a still image, while a movie is a moving image. This is also why the old fashion expression "going to the pictures" is plural.

You can replace "shocking"

neutral  ormiston: Replace by 'appaling' with one L? (that's appalling English). And the term is 'old-fashioned'

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: "AppaLLing" is not a synonym for "shocking" here and "picture" is also wrong here. Picture can also mean paintings and other images, not just films. And we still say "going to the pictures" so not old fashionED
