Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / divorce ruling
Spanish term or phrase: Sala Civil Colectiva
As in "Sala Civil Colectiva de la Corte Superior de Justicia de Arequipa". Not seeing "sala civil colectiva" in other court systems and having trouble figuring on the "colectiva" part.

Based on the link below, my understanding is that the Sala Civil Colectiva of the aformentioned Court in Arequipa can affirm appeals.

Combined Jurisdiction (Second Division) of the Superior Court of Justice of Arequipa
Explanation:
Per references.

Or "Second Division of Combined Jurisdiction of the Superior Court of Justice of Arequipa". Phil suggested rewording, and perhaps one idea would be "Combined Jurisdiction (Second Division) of the Superior Court of Justice".

I have to say that I like Adrian's idea of "Multi-tiered" & "Common Jurisdiction" but I can't find anything concrete to suggest that this is a suitable wording for this type of court.

**I posted another link (last reference) outlining the various types of courts. Your case may fall under the "Appellate" section, the "Mixed" section or under the "Civil" section. I don't know.

A word of caution: I believe, it is almost impossible to try to equate court systems throughout the world, e.g. US vs UK systems.

Multi-Tier Civil Division of Common Jurisidction; (UK: digital) Common Platform for Civil Cases

Explanation:
I will leave Taña to post her translation of Division of Combined Jurisdiction as an answer-

Rather than a Combined Court Center/ Centre - that suggests to me joint civil & criminal jurisdiction - the appeals point connotes to me a multi-tier or level judicial body or 'jurisdcictional organism'.

Note that, in the UK, the Common Platform is an experimental project for *criminal Magistrates & Crown cases* that Yours Truly (!) has asked at a conference to be extended to County Court civil cases.

neutral  AllegroTrans: Why do you think UK experimentation applies in Latin America? Can you not think "out of the box" and stop trying to mushroom foreign concepts into blighty talk? Use country-neutral language perhaps?

-> I domn't know how the Common Platform is going to develop, perhaps into a Common Court and the add-on was for ref. only. PS Multi-tier is country-neutral and nowt to do with Blighty.

1. Types of courts
In order of ascendance, the hierarchy of the five levels of courts in Peru is as follows: Courts of Justices of the Peace
(previously known as lay Justices of the Peace), Courts of formally qualified Justices of the Peace, Courts of Special
or Combined Jurisdiction (or Special Courts), Superior (i.e., Appeals) Courts, and the Supreme Court.

Footnote 14: Superior Courts are organized into the Special Divisions of Criminal, Civil, Labor, Agrarian, and Family Matters, pursuant to Articles 40, 41, 42, and 43 of the Organic Law. Divisions of Combined Jurisdiction may be created depending on the needs of each Judicial
Circuit, as provided for under Article 37 of the Organic Law.

Cases filed at this level may be appealed to the Court of Special or
Combined Jurisdiction with authority over the subject matter and with geographic jurisdiction, which acts as
the court of last resort.

1.2.2 Courts of Combined Jurisdiction
Article 48 of the Organic Law also provides for the establishment of Combined Jurisdiction Courts in those
provinces where such an effort is warranted. They would hear family matters, criminal matters, and civil/
business disputes, or whatever combination of cases specified to be in their jurisdiction. Combined jurisdiction
courts are created in response to lack of economic resources and the demographics in those areas. Their status
and place in the hierarchy is the same as that of the Courts of Special Jurisdiction.

[This is an appeal].

Based on the first link, my thinking is that the "Sala Civil Colectiva" may refer to a "Division of Combined Jurisdiction", so the "Second Division of Combined Jurisdiction of the Superior Court of Justice of Arequipa".
