a proper little man

I did hesitate about using 'chap' instead of 'man', but I think that's perhaps a little dated nowadays... and might not be any more explicit for Asker.

a relaxed and easy going man

Explanation:
Dude is a slang for “a man” and most often it is used in west coast of US particularly in California. It might refer to a cool guy, or a person, or a friend.
Perhaps the most important attribute to the phrase is that it is normally associated with a relaxed and easy going person.

a little fellow

Explanation:
When baby's/child's reactions and/or behaviour are not usual (maybe smarter or/and more mature) for his/her age. Used to express approval and/or satisfaction.

  -> Even better, yes!

neutral  Tony M: Standing alone, this would simply mean they were 'small'; as Rachel says, adding 'quite a/the little fellow' would give it the required sense here.
1 hr

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: just means "small"on its own

disagree  Lydia De Jorge: Dude is slang for "man" or "guy". Your explanation is incorrect.

"all boy"

Explanation:
When adults talk about little kids or babies who epidomize their gender, especially boys, they say "He's all boy." This means the child behaves in ways that are typical to his gender (e.g. likes cars, plays rough...). Saying the child is a "dude" means the same thing.

Example sentence(s):
  • My son is all boy. He likes knocking down blocks with his toy truck and running wildly through the house.

neutral  Tony M: Except that this child is still only 9 months old, so I hardly think this would really sit too well here.
24 mins
  -> Nine months or nine years, the "all boy" or "dude" description can fit the personality of the child.

agree  Suzan Hamer: Even though her son is only 9 months old, the mother thinks her baby is already displaying traits or behavior that she considers male. She could just as well have said “He’s a real boy.”
