Danish term or phrase: anmeltes
I have an early 19th-century Danish marriage record, that includes some confusing preliminary information: "Løverdagen, den 11te Januarii anmeltes til Ægteskabs fuldbyrdelse aflyst fra Prædikestollen for velagte Ungekarl N.N. og dydige Enke N.N. ..."

The record goes on to say that the banns were published on the 12th, 19th and 28th of January, and the marriage was performed in the church on the 31st of January.

So what exactly happened on Saturday, the 11th of January? Did the couple APPEAR ("anmelde sig") in church to request that the banns be published from the pulpit? Or did the parish priest ANNOUNCE ("anmelde") from the pulpit that the said couple intended to be married? The sentence seems confusing to me with the use of both "anmeltes" and "aflyst"... Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
