French term or phrase: promenade en perspective
I am translating an article about cities along the Loire, and it says that a tourist touring Tours can enjoy "promenades en perspective." The phrase seems to show up often in descriptions of places in France and Canada, and in English it appears as "walks in perspective." Every time I find "walks in perspective," though, it's a description of somewhere in France, so I am thinking it might be an incorrect literal translation. (Or it could be that I have just never run across the English term before, in which case, I'd appreciate someone explaining it to me.) Many thanks!

Here's the exact context: "***Longues promenades en perspective***, au gré de ses rues commerçantes, piétonnières, de ses petites places secrètes, de ses beaux hôtels et de ses jardins…"

You are right, your translation is too literal, you need to restructure the sentence. Two possible ways of handling it are proposed.
