Peaks with shoulders There is no specific measurement for the degree of a "shoulder" on a peak. In most cases, the presence of a significant shoulder will increase the measured tailing factor and/or decrease the measured plate count. Peak splitting or double peaks is usually symptomatic of a void at column inlet, a partially blocked inlet frit (not necessarily leading to a pressure increase) and anything else that causes a disruption of the sample path where the sample follows multiple paths throughout the column. This phenomenon also occurs when the column is poorly packed and that the packing bed settles under the system pressure or that the mobile phase pH is too high and dissolves the silica thus creating a void at the column inlet. If all the peaks in the chromatogram have shoulders and the problem has gradually been getting worse, then a void at the column head has to be considered as a strong possibility. Not much can be done to save the column and you are better off replacing the column. hombro frontal (pre-hombro) Explanation: Posiblemente aluda a un hombro frontal (versus hombro trasero), esto es, un hombro previo al pico principal. Sólo he encontrado un ejemplo equivalente en castellano como pre-hombro; Ambos picos no fueron simétricos y presentaban un pre-hombro. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://... zona previa al hombro Explanation: Entiendo que hombro es el punto de inflexión que se observa en un cromatograma cuando dos picos no están bien separados y que, por tanto, pre-shoulder<i/> debe ser la zona inmediatamente anterior a dicho punto de inflexión. |
