circulatory compensation Explanation: "The imposition of an orthostatic stress, such as standing, causes a rapid gravitational displacement of approximately 500-700 mL of central blood volume into the splanchnic and lower extremity vascular beds. If uncompensated, this can result in orthostatic intolerance. Normal circulatory compensation for orthostasis occurs rapidly via the sympathetic and parasympathetic arms of the autonomic nervous system for appropriate heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) control." https://www.cardioaragon.com/wp-content/uploads/Benefits-ora... "In myocardial failure, heart valvular disease, and congenital abnormalities of the heart, an important circulatory compensation is an increase in blood volume, which helps to return cardiac output and blood pressure to normal." https://user.xmission.com/~total/temple/Soapbox/Articles/Q.h... |
