Italian term or phrase: quando quel risultato fu salutato come
With both the historical and current day references, I am confused about what result is being discussed in this phrase. It seems to refer, through the punctuation, to Labour's 1935 levels, but then refers to Blair. i.e. I understand the meaning of the words, but I am thrown by the phrasing.

". che ha colorato di giallo pressoché tutta la Scozia, 48 seggi su 59, scende ai livelli del 1935: quando quel risultato fu salutato come un segno di crescita, praticamente dimezzato e perdente per la quarta volta da quando Blair ha lasciato la guida, nella sua rappresentanza parlamentare. "

agree  Charlotte Fleming: The Labour party was on the rise in 1935 (it was only founded in 1911), so the number of votes was worth celebrating.

agree  Shabelula: salutato is usually for a positive event, perhaps you could say "was welcomed as" here
