I have just come across the word maputî.
The dictionary I use does not give it, but it seems to me that the best translation may be "fair-skinned."
Or is it vaguer than that, referring to hair as well?
What is the opposite of maputî? The word meaning "dark" or "dark-skinned" i mean, or whatever the exact opposite is.

PS Perhaps a good way to explain my meaning is to think of a Pinay using skin-whitening cream. Is she trying to become maputî? And trying not to be ..... (whatever the opposite of maputî is)?

Asker: Ah thank you very much. So it's more like "fair". Less specific than "fair-skinned". So what is the opposite? Something like maitim?
