Hi everyone,

I am translating a text regarding the clothing and fashion industry and I found this sentence:

"Dark shades mixed with poppy colours, brilliant cord and velvet materials"

I was wondering if "poppy" here refers precisely to the flower or if it is rather a way to say "vivid, bright colours".

Any suggestions?

Sì, nel frattempo ne ho parlato con un collega anglofono che mi diceva che è bene menzionare anche il nome del fiore. Quindi "rosso papavero" o "tonalità papavero". Ma il colore è effettivamente un rosso acceso!

tanto per tagliare la testa al toro (e fare da contrappunto al "dark" che precede, mi pare quello il senso)
perché ci sono anche papaveri bianchi e viola...

il rosso del papavero è noto per essere particolarmente acceso, la pantone ha diverse versioni di colore "poppy", alcune tendenti all'arancione.
tonalità papavero mi sembra più esatta, ma credo che renda poco l'idea, anche perché i papaveri hanno vari colori anche verso il blu e il violetto, tutti considerati "vivid" o "vibrant" però.
