In a Catholic parish history from Minnesota, written in the 1870s: "Die Seelsorge in Meiers Grove uebertrug nun Reverendissimus Abbas dem Priester Matthias Sautner, dem als Ordensname der des h.B. & D.E. Anselmus gegeben ward." I understand that Anselmus was this priest's monastic name, but can't find any reference to the abbreviations h.B. and D.E. Any suggestions?

-> I am surprised that you are pouring cold and unholy water on this traditional nomenclature en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_name // JTB would not be spelt out as John the Baptist as a prefixed religious name. Otherwise, feel free to post your own answer.
