In one embodiment the macro roughness value is derived by calculating a macro roughness score based on at least one of an initial substrate macro roughness score, a coating macro roughness score , and a time-dependent macro roughness score .

neutral  Tony M: I believe fouling in this specific context is 'salissures'; 'encrassement' certainly applies to things like filters etc. that also get "fouled'.
