Hi
Please, what is the พิ in the name of Ganesh, the elephant god? An honorific? Can it be translated in any way?
In Thai he is พระพิฆเนศ or พระพิฆเนศวร.
I know one shouldn't translate names but i would like to gloss the พิ to avoid confusion.
พระ is not a problem, being so common.

Ganesh/Ganesha/Ganapati
Explanation:
There seems to be four acceptable spellings in Thai: พระพิฆเนศ พระพิฆเณศวร พระพิฆเณศ พระคณปติ.
I believe the พิ itself is just part of the name. In one of the spellings, พิ is left out altogether.

พระ
honorific

Explanation:
I think it's the word "พระ" you are looking for here. The whole "พิฆเนศ" being the name of Ganesh. The word "พระ" is actually the honorific title you'd find in other gods.
