Contesto (description of map that Yale scholars believe was drawn during the early 15th century):

a three-lobed island cut [almost] through by two deep inlets

Explanation:
As found online, in a document published by the Ohio State University titled The Vinland Map -- Some "Finer Points" of the Debate by J. Huston McCulloch, March 2005, with updates Sept. 2008

'On the Vinland Map, "Vinilanda" is represented as a three-lobed island cut almost through by by (sic) deep inlets. It is generally assumed that these lobes represent "Helluland", a barren land of flat stones believed to have been Baffin Island, "Markland," a forested land identified with Labrador, and "Vinland," a land with grapes believed to have been Newfoundland. (Perkins 1974).'

agree  philgoddard: I feel that Daniela's answer is perfectly adequate, and we already know that it's an island, but you deserve some credit for actually looking up the map.
