Does this friend have a name? Explanation: Your first guess "Does this friend have a name?" is correct. It is not a normal way of asking for somebody's name. A will use it when B is going on and on telling something about C (whether B just wants to tell or A is "interrogating" B), such as something C has done, or something they've done together, but is not telling who C is. A good example is when the daughter is trying to convince the parents that she was only studying or walking with a "friend" :) |
