image poem Explanation: A literal translation works fine. "Imagist" would be wrong in my opinion, since it implies that the poet subscribes to a particular set of tenets. I could write an image poem, but that doesn't make me an imagist. "An image poem is a poetic form that uses descriptions of visual images to demonstrate a subject or emotion." http://penandthepad.com/write-image-poem-5032777.html -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 19 mins (2019-01-15 17:28:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I also agree with Helen's suggestions of "picture poem" and "visual poem". |

Reference: Imagist poem Reference information: "An Imagist poem is not just a picture poem." https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=PpGBuOOQyPgC&pg=PA374&dq... This discussion may help you. The term 'visual poem' has several applications: it can mean examples like Apollinaire's Caligrammes, in which an image is created by means of typography, or, more simply, one that evokes an image in the reader's mind, and anything in between. I would suggest you consider that. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 18 mins (2019-01-15 17:27:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- A visual poem may be defined simply as a poem composed or designed to be consciously seen. The modern visual poem is generally composed with disassembled language material. This stuff of language includes word, text, note, code, petroglyph, letter, phonic character, type, cipher, symbol, pictograph, sentence, number, hieroglyph, rhythm, iconograph, grammar, cluster, stroke, ideogram, density, pattern, diagram, logogram, accent, line, color, measure, etc. Today’s minimalist visual poet, or the post World War Two term, concrete poet, generally composes with fissioned language material to create new and free particles, and/or sonic patterns, clusters, densities, and/or textures. The visual poet composes with these freed particles and generally weds or fuses them to one or more art forms. By doing so, by crossing art form boundaries, the visual poet composes in a field of multimedia or borderblur or intermedia. http://www.logolalia.com/minimalistconcretepoetry/archives/k... |
