I have no idea what "aufspindeln" means in this context. Can anybody help? It would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

to spin (around)
Explanation:

If you give the spindle a spin, the new white fibers will spin around the leader and connect the two together.

A spindle axis is where the joint must rotate perfectly around its own axis, while all the child joints in the hierarchy also rotate perfectly around its axis.
In Figure 3.8 we can see the layout of our arm contains some joint that aren’t aligned with the world axis. But the joint labelled “spindle” is supposed to spin around its own axis, like a drill bit!

screw

Explanation:

The external thread (of the Rifbolt) must be fully screwed into the threaded sleeve of the Setzgerät (riveting tool, riveting gun or whatever you have called it).

disagree  Johannes Gleim: Ich würde lieber "to spindle" verwenden, ggfs. auch "spin around". "to screw" bedeutet mehr festschrauben, was hier nicht der Fall ist.

to wind around

Explanation:
I don't know that it's ideally written, but this makes sense in the sentence. The Hülse must be wound along the whole length of the bolt thread.

the word often is used metonymically to refer to the entire rotary unit, including not only the shaft itself, but its bearings and anything attached to it (chuck, etc.).

to spindle

Explanation:
"aufspindeln" ist mit "einschrauben" verwandt:

to screw sth. ⇔ in etw.Akk. einschrauben | schraubte ein, eingeschraubt |
https://dict.leo.org/englisch-deutsch/einschrauben

to screw in einschrauben
Insert fuse. Sicherung einschrauben. electr.
Turn in the setscrew, but only halfway. tech.

In machine tools, a spindle is a rotating axis of the machine, which often has a shaft at its heart. The shaft itself is called a spindle, but also, in shop-floor practice, the word often is used metonymically to refer to the entire rotary unit, including not only the shaft itself, but its bearings and anything attached to it (chuck, etc.).

2. A rod or pin serving as an axis that revolves or on which something revolves.

neutral  Johannes Gleim: That's the common definition, not excluding other use, esp. for tecnical terms regarding the context. "aufspindeln" is as least as rare as "to spindle".
