This is about "points". See this image of a "relevé de notes" for the bac, and you will see how it works. A certain number of "points" are awarded and based on those points and the "coefficient" of a particular subject/module, etc., the "note /20" will be determined. If the student is actually in the "2e groupe", meaning they have had to go to the "rattrapages", then you will seee that is the only situation in which "points retenus" appears. That is because in the 1er groupe a particular n° of points will have been awarded. A commission will determine how many points to award based on various factors of the n° obtained at the 1er and 2e groupes, (1st and 2nd results).
https://morganecastellanoslopez.wordpress.com/parcours/bacca..."Carried over" is an excellent solution IMHO, as it specifically refers to the n° that appears in the last column.
Note that any reference to "points" as "marks" is misleading. "Points" are not awarded out of 20; a "note" is awarded out of 20. When a French student ends up in the "rattrapages" session, an oral to try and get enough points to pass the bac if the initial results fall slightly short, there are choices to be made
