French to English translations [PRO]

French term or phrase: (m)
"[company name, ...] représentée selon les inscriptions figurant au Registre du Commerce par M. [a male name], (m), fils de XXXX XXXX et de XXXX XXXX, né le xx.xx.xx, originaire de Xxxxxxxxxxxxx, domicilié xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, célibataire, lequel possède la signature individuelle [...]"

Surely "M." indicates that the person is male (if that's relevant at all?), so what does the "(m)" do?
