English term or phrase: bridging
Bridging means sending a message to the child that you seek a connection with them but will not pressure them to be closer to you than they are comfortable with.

cela s'utilise dans un contexte comme la séparation d'un enfant qui entre à l'école et qui doit se séparer de sa mère pour faire comprendre à l'enfant qu'il y aura une séparation et l'amener à cette séparation. Il faut faire une sorte de pont, une passerelle.

Quelqu'un aurait-il un mot unique ??

rapprocher, combler, faire le lien

Explanation:
Looking for 1 word, preferably a verb (as bridging) that expresses the meaning of mother’s presence in the context, i.e, being confident and present when the first separation between child - mother happens.

Example sentence(s):
  • La proximité de la mère comble le premier changement d’activités et d’entourage de l’enfant.
  • A l’entrée en maternelle, la première séparation de l’enfant d’avec sa mère, celle-ci lui montre en l’accompagnant, que les 2 mondes, famille et petites classes, se rapprochent.

Explanation:
le passage qui précède est plus éclairant :

"Three Ways to Cultivate Stronger Connections
While the circumstances behind the challenges in our relationship will be different for every parent and child, there are a few attachment strategies that can be useful in repairing what has been broken.
Consider a child’s receptivity to a relationship and bridge the distance – Before proceeding to cultivate a closer connection, it is important to consider how receptive a child is to having one with you. If the cold shoulder is a consistent response, then bridging the distance between you may be the most important thing to do. Bridging means sending a message to the child that you seek a connection with them but will not pressure them to be closer to you than they are comfortable with."
