A versão inglesa do site deles diz no alto da página: "Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk". Comparando-a com a versão em espanhol (postada pela colega Teresa Borges), deduzo que se trata do Registro Civil do Condado de LA. Eu deixaria de fora qualquer referência a "escrevente" ou "escrivão", que seria mais propriamente traduzido como "county clerk". Pelo que me lembro das certidões de nascimento no Brasil, e se não me engano na minha própria, diz "Registro Civil" no alto da página logo abaixo do nome do cartório. Mas como não tenho a certidão à mão, não tenho como verificar. Então fica aí mais uma sugestão. Boa sorte.
