Not really an answer as such Explanation: Picking up on both David's guidelines and Muriel's approach, I'd be tempted to suggest: "So many guidelines have now become accepted practice..." "So many pointers are now taken to be the conventional wisdom.." "Society has now come to accept certain recommendations..."
