AFAIK this is a modern building being converted to a hotel/student accommodation. The text doesn't give much info about the age of the building. I believe it is a former barracks which is to be completely gutted and new storeys and an extension are to be added.

this should be your question, the levelling of the wall covering (plaster), but then again, more context is needed for a definite answer..

As BDF says, more context is needed to figure this one out.

In classical architecture, the 'tympanum' is the triangular panel occupying the space between the square top of the wall and the sloping roof of a gable-end — which in many cases was carved or otherwise decorated. So this would seem to be logical with yout 'tympan' as a feature to be conserved.
Not sure about the 'arase' part, though... I'll see if I can find that in one of my glossaries, i remember seeing it soemwhere and being surprised about the meaning...

What sort of building is it? What period and type of architecture? Are the "tympans" a decorative feature? As far as I am aware, "box-end stanchion end walls" isn't an architectural or construction term at all and is totally meaningless.
