There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that it is a mistake — especially if the text originates from Amazon, which is notoriously bad for not proofing its copy!
Otherwise, it would be meaningless in EN...
In addition, the publishers, Create Space have soemthing of a poor reputation when it comes to linguistic accuracy (and surprise, surpirse — they are an Amazon company!)

It is true that a number of sites advertising this book give the wording as given by Asker. However, I can't see how it can be anything other than "life-changing secret that...." It is a "tween-age" book, so I can't imagine it's any more complicated than "life-changing secret that"....

Hi Tony, I thought it was also an error but it is not and that's why I could not translated into French. The story is about two girls that look a like and discovered that they are twins, but their parents doesn't know that the girls know the secret that they have kept it. The girls decided to swap their life during a school camp but in the end, they get caught out.

Also, to get a proper, meaningful answer in context, you need to give us more surrunding information — like what actually is this "secret"? It seems to me that key point here is if it means "the secret that would change their lives when they found it out later in the story", or if it is "life-changing" in a more general sense?

I don't know whether it is your error in copying the text, or an actual error in the source text itself, but that should of course read: "the life-changing secret that their parents..."
