Me encuentro con este término en el siguiente contexto:

Inspect each link of load chain for wear at saddles of links (contract area), as evidenced by shiny areas. Inspect load chain for stretched condition, checking over several sections of the chain. The diameter of new chain stock is 0.250 inch. The maximum allowable length over 19 links for used chain is 14-13/16 inches.

Creo por el enlace anterior que 'stock' se refiere a la 'barra' que al curvarse forma el eslabón. No sé si esto tiene un nombre específico en castellano, en caso negativo la opción que he dado podría resolver el asunto.
