Medical - Medical (general) / hyponatremia

I am not sure about verificati in this context. Does this mean that the physiopathological cerebral coping mechanisms don't "take place and complete" yet? They have not "set in and been completed" yet? Any ideas to make this sound natural in English?

Thanks!

Explanation:
...the compensatory pathophysiological mechanism have not yet been activated or taken their full effect.

Please note that in EN, it is pathophysiological rather than "physiopathological".
