Explanation:
Secondo me "solid" significa pieno, o uniforme, o costante, cioè senza variazioni né sfumature, in contrapposizione a "ombré", che si può tranquillamente lasciare così.

Il senso sembra essere "pieni o ombré", cioè o l'uno o l'altro, ma quelle due "o" vicine suonano male, quindi meglio "e".
