This is a text describing a conversation:
"Beat blickt kurz zu Janik, dann wieder zum Bildschirm.
JASPER Mein Weg ist bald zu Ende. Das weiß ich. Pop wird das überstehen. Er hat dich ja schon am Haken. (blickt auf, direkt) Wie du ihn wohl nennen wirst...? (lebhaft) Denn ich meine, “Pop” so hab ich ihn ja immer genannt, (lächelt) Er war ja nicht mein “Pa”, sondern etwas... ähnliches. Also: “Pop”. (verstummt kurz, dann) Und jetzt bist du dran, Beat.
BEAT (*darein*, unterdrückt) Ach, leck mich, Alter! Beat löst die DVD aus dem Brenner, rafft wütend die Devotionalien zusammen und wirft alles zusammen in den Mülleimer."
I am not sure what this refers to - Beat is not "in" anywhere as far as I know!
I didn't post an answer because I wasn't entirely sure what to call it now, as said below. I guess I didn't make it clear enough that "I wonder" (see below) was actually a question and for that I apologize.
I think offscreen may be the right option, but despite prompting (!) my helpful discussion participants have not posted an answer. Aside felt too theatrical for this domestic scene.

Thanks! Thought about this again, so I don't say anything wrong here. Considering what Erik wrote at the other question you posted, I wonder whether "darein" simply means O.S. in this context and "darüber" V.O.
I guess it all depends on whether Luna is in the apartment or whether she's just someone Beat is thinking about (with the latter being a voice over and the former "off screen").
I think your comment re. "darein -> in das Geschehen hinein" makes sense to me - I would like to choose this as answer. I will set up a separate PROZ query for Karolin to get points as you both deserve them!

Ahh, thanks :) That's what I thought. What do you think about "mutters" (see below)? There are two options here: Presumably, we're talking about a video recording, not an online chat (DVD burner and such), so either Beat is part of that recording ("darein" -> darauf, basically) or he's not, but utters those words in front of the screen (darein -> in das Geschehen hinein -> he's saying this at the same time Jasper's talking--without interrupting him, of course, since that's not possible).
@Karolin I think we're in agreement here. See my PS further below.
Thanks, Elizabeth. Just one more thing: Are there three of them? Or is "Jasper" someone on screen? In this case, he can't be "interrupting" that person, Phil. Not even sure you could use "interrupting" if the other person continues by saying, "Now, it's your turn." I think Karolin's "dazwischennuscheln" is a good description. In the beginning, it says "Janik" and in the other paragraph, it also says "Janik" (and Beat again). So who in the world is Jasper??
Hallo Björn : ) Ich glaub er nuschelt so dazwischen. Männer (und auch Frauen eigentlich) machen das manchmal, wenn sie mit Elektrogeräten o.ä. hantieren, die nicht wollen, wie sie wohl wollen. Das reicht von leisem Gemurmel bis zu Wutausbrüchen und Herumspringen auf dem entsprechenden Gerät (davon distanziere ich mich ausdrücklich). Er hört Jasper also gar nicht richtig zu. Sorry about the Janik-Jasper-confusion. There seem to be three of them.
It would have made more sense to me if he or she had said "darauf."
Any reason why there is Janik and Jasper in there, Elizabeth? Is there something we don't know?
Additionally, I'm not sure what kind of "Devotionalien" they're talking about. This sounds pretty odd in context, but of course, I don't know the whole story.
Explanation: darein, drinnen have the Background idea of adding or interjecting in a conversation. The word darin is when it's done, darein when it's being done
