Target audience: pregnant women in the USA, this document provides advice about recommended exercise/sports during pregnancy.

R&C suggests "Callanetics" and linguee suggests "soft gymnastics" which hasn't really convinced me... I think that using "gymnastics" in this context is quite misleading, possibly dangerous! GDT says "anti-exercise", which is a possibility but I might need to explain it...

Actually, it appears that in French, this term encompasses yoga, tai-chi, pilates, etc so nothing to do with what I would qualify as gymnastics.

Do we have a catch-all term in English that would encompass all these sports?

So far my best attempt: Low-impact exercise such as yoga, pilates...

Any better ideas?

or low-impact exercise, as you suggest. Callanetics sounds too specific.

agree  Tony M: 'gentle exercise' — I too thought of low-impact, but even that is probably too specific; it's possible to have 'low-impact' exercise that is still too strenuous for a pregnant lady.

agree  Gregory Lassale: There is such a thing as soft and hard martial arts, so I don't think a solution using the word "soft" would be bad. Also: https://www.amazon.com/Soft-Exercise-Complete-Stretching-Scr...

-> Thanks, Gregory. Most of the hits for soft exercise seem to be be either for the stretching book you mention or exercise with a soft ball
