agree  The Misha: The problem is with semi-literate Russian here which becomes worse when rendered verbatim.I'd simply say "sociopolitical situation" here which doesn't sound as atrocious.Plus sociopolitical is one of the "unhyphenated hyphenateds" that's actually used.
