Il termine si mantenne poi anche per l'utensile odierno[1]. it might also be the lid of the jar |

bakeware/baking dishes/pans Explanation: according to Italian dictionaries testo is like teglia and usually refers to low rise terracotta baking dishes or pans (often with two small handles) which may be used both on the fire (later on the stove top) and on the table -like casseroles. Also have a lid which may be loaded with burning coals in order to cook the food from the top In effetti il "testo" risale all'Antica Roma. However I would go for a GENERIC term rather than griddle as this in English is usually completely flat -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 47 mins (2017-08-22 13:26:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- You can see a picture of a traditional one with lid here http://blog.giallozafferano.it/peperonciniedintorni/testarol...
