When the costs of freight on the invoice from the carrier are payable at destination. There can sometimes be a surcharge of 5–10% for Freight Collect, as this poses a risk to the carrier that the freight cannot be collected after the carriage has been performed....

Freight is paid at destination and not at origin, by the shipper, which would be “prepaid”

Collect only works when you engage a freight forwarder at your end and have them to organise the freight for you. Once the freight is where you wanted to have it shipped to you go to your freight forwarder / agent and they will “collect” the freight charges from you.

agree  Eddie R. Notowidigdo: Menurut pengalaman saya di bidang shipping, "collect" lebih bersifat dibayar oleh penerima. Dan belum tentu setelah barang diterima. Dalam hal B/L biasanya freight sudah harus dibayar sebelum kapal sampai di tujuan.
