Royal andarun Explanation: Kindly have a look at here for Andarun: http://www.iranicaonline.org/articles/andarun https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andaruni Also look at the below links for the examples of "royal andarun": https://books.google.com/books?id=AHYEBgAAQBAJ&pg=PT29&lpg=P... https://books.google.com/books?id=cSen9p91jtgC&pg=PA270&lpg=... http://www.iranicaonline.org/articles/taj-al-saltana -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 hrs (2017-08-05 09:56:37 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Thanks, madleen. I looked at the context you added. You can surely use the word Andarun. This paper is related to our term: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00210860500300796... You can on its third page that: In this period, female musicians were restricted to the andarun (or the andaruni which was the part of the house reserved for women) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 16 hrs (2017-08-05 10:46:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Yes. Andarun, as far as I know, was usually a large room for the females who were of interest to the king. Naser al-Din Shah is famous for that. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 hrs (2017-08-05 12:28:39 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It's Andarun-e Shahi, by the way. |

Majestic Andaruni (interior) Persian house Explanation: -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-08-04 19:58:05 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Or you can simply say the interior which means andarun/andaruni -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 days (2017-08-11 21:45:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Hi, the equivalent i've suggested is according to the provided context. When you say Andarun in Persian, its connotation is obvious to everybody that it's a female kinda place. Transliteration (my translation above), i think would do the best here, without any meaning or connotation being lost. Reference: http://realiran.org/architecture/ |
